Lucas Hull is a 2D and 3D visual effects designer. Driven by a passion for detail and creative problem-solving, Hull has nearly a decade of experience in animation and 3D visualization. His credits span numerous live action feature films, including Life of Pi, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Star Trek: Into Darkness, The Avengers, The Smurfs, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, among stereo converting classics like Titanic and Jurassic Park.
Hull began his multifaceted career as a broadcast designer in Baltimore, MD. While creating graphics and animations for both the FOX and ABC affiliates, Hull refined his skills as an animator and designer. After leaving the broadcast market, he took a creative director role for an online advertising metrics company. In December of 2009, he returned to school in California, focusing on visual effects and compositing. After extensive training and networking, he was able to acquire a compositing position with Bit Theory.
Following Bit Theory, Hull contributed to major projects for Marvel and Paramount pictures while working for Stereo D in Burbank, CA. During his time there, he worked on twelve digital features, many of which he took lead on test shots in order to seal the deal with the client.
Hull continues to pride himself on working with talented directors whose unique stories drive the medium of film to its limits. When not immersed in a feature film production, he enjoys shooting video, sculpting and working on small creative projects that keep his hands moving.
